Digital Producer

Job Description

The Chaldean News (CN) is seeking a part-time Digital Producer to join its Farmington Hills office. The Digital Producer will report to the Creative Director. The ideal candidate will possess audio and video editing skills, with a strong sense for recognizing key moments in storytelling. The ideal candidate will have an opportunity to contribute photography and writing assignments for the CN. Assistance and coaching will be provided by the publication’s creative director and editor.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

• Produce and edit audio/video projects.
• Post content to CN website and social media platforms.
• Assist with production of a weekly e-newsletter and an online Chaldean community calendar.
• Assist with gathering, organizing and copy-editing CN content (monthly).
• Attend and help facilitate CN-sponsored events (approximately 3-4 per year).
• Attend weekly team meetings and monthly editorial board meetings.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Key Competencies

• Excellent knowledge of video/audio editing software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with web-based content posting tools.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Highly motivated and detail oriented.
• Able to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of the Chaldean and/or Arabic languages is a plus.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Production, or related field preferred.
• 2-5 years of related experience in project management and working with digital content.
• Must be able to work nights and weekends (as needed).

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Occasionally may be required to lift up to 15 pounds.
